Atlanta, GA launched a reinvention of the city website - www.atlantaga.gov - earlier this month. The sleek design and powerful features of the new website come from working with leading government website developers at Vision Internet.
Serving over 5.2 million citizens, www.atlantaga.gov is the main hub for online communication between the City and the Atlanta Metroplex community. However, the site hadn’t seen a redesign since 2003 and the lack of attention was starting to show. For the City the choice was simple, the best way to create a world-class government website was to work with the Government Website Experts™:

A major focus of the project was to rid the site of interior webpage clutter. The two teams prioritized, organized, and streamlined information to condense over 4,000 web pages to 1,000. All vital information is now much easier to find through a network of intuitive navigational tools such as dropdown main navigation menus, interior page breadcrumbs, quick links, and a search bar.
Every last detail was tended to during the design and layout of the website. The new design optimizes valuable homepage real estate with a sliding button menu that links to major destination pages and multi-tabbed dynamic column feeds that stream the latest news stories, upcoming events, and more. For those accessing the site through a mobile device, visionMobile™ automatically provides a mobile version upon entering the site. Even the background image plays a special role - changing from day to night after the sun passes over the Atlanta skyline.
Along with revamping the site’s aesthetics, the City’s online communications received a complete overhaul. Internal processes and best practices were revisited, staff received onsite content management training, and new updating procedures were put in place. The visionCMS™ allows for the decentralization of website responsibilities with a PIO or website team now overseeing updates for each department.
