In July 2010, Money Magazine named the City of Eden Prairie the #1 Best Place to Live in America. Since winning this prestigious title, the City’s website had a large increase in website visitors. It was important to the City that people get a true feel of Eden Prairie when they visited the site – not a 7-year old website running on dated technology. To solve this, Vision Internet was brought in to help rebuild the website from the ground-up.
There was a great synergy between the City and the Vision Team as they worked through the proven steps of the
Vision Implementation Process™. Quality time was put into analyzing usage of the old site and applying government website best practices to make the most important information more accessible. As an example, shortcuts to the most frequently visited sections of the website (parks & recreation, community center, utility billing, and Eden Prairie Liquor) are prominently displayed on the homepage as a one-click button or link.
In addition to the main design, three separate design themes were created for the liquor store, parks & recreation, and community center pages, giving each page an individual brand identity. This kind of attention to detail and the many
interactive online services have made the website a big hit with the City Council, city staff members, and most importantly, the citizens.
