Texas is a state with a rich, historical past and the job of the Texas Historical Commission is to uphold Texas history through the promotion and preservation of Texas’ historical sites. By partnering with Vision Internet in the development of 19 unique websites, the Commission is able to meet their responsibilities and efficiently provide information to Texas residents and visitors.
Each site is dedicated to the historical preservation of a specific Texas landmark – such as the Sabine Pass Battleground, Eisenhower’s Birthplace, and the Confederate Reunion Grounds. Within the individual sites, users are able to intuitively search for information with the use of dropdown menus, quick links, and search boxes. The sites provide users with helpful information such as a brief write-up about the location, the hours of operation, admission costs, current weather conditions, and rotating slideshows of past and present day photographs.
