New Interactive Website Features Complete Redesign, Mobile Site, Increased Social Media Presence and Live Streaming City Hall TV

YONKERS, NY – Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano today announced the launch of the City’s newly rebranded website at www.YonkersNY.gov. Developed in partnership with the online government website developer, Vision Internet, the new site incorporates a fresh look, improved navigation and search, and new interactive features.

YonkersNY.gov is the first impression many people have of Yonkers,” said Mayor Mike Spano. “The new site is a much-needed change in the image of the City, providing residents greater access to information and services, and showcasing Yonkers in a new light to visitors and businesses interested in coming here.”

The new user-friendly and interactive city website features a complete redesign of www.YonkersNY.gov, the first overhaul of the site since 2007, and includes a new mobile site that uses responsive design technology, optimizing the screen resolution to fit smartphones, tablets, laptops and other mobile devices.

The new site also showcases Yonkers’ social media platforms, including the City’s Facebook Page, Twitter (@CityofYonkers), Four Square, and Flickr, and Mayor Spano’s Twitter (@MayorMikeSpano), Instagram (@MayorMikeSpano), Tumblr and YouTube.

Key features of the new website can be accessed directly from the new homepage that incorporates a Live, Work, Play navigation system. Among other improved features are:

  • Live streaming and On Demand City Hall TV;
  • Problem Solver service request form to report problems and send requests to the appropriate City department;
  • Searchable calendar of community meetings and events that can be filtered by department and easily added to one’s smartphone calendar;
  • E-notification sign-up for news, events, job postings and bid/RFP opportunities; and
  • Make A Payment bill payments for simple payment of taxes, tickets and water bills via Link2Gov.

Mayor Spano added, “Improvements to services like the City website reflect a change in how I believe government should be run. YonkersNY.gov is a reflection of Yonkers and the new direction our city is moving – with vision, purpose and results.”

“Mayor Spano’s dedication to efficient and responsible government is an outstanding model for public employees throughout New York and across the country,” said Ashley Fruechting, Vision Internet’s director of strategic initiatives. “Yonkers has created a powerful website that not only caters directly to citizens’ needs, but to the needs of business owners, developers, investors, elected officials and City employees. The new site engages citizens, provides information that builds trust, and delivers information when, where and in whatever format citizens want it.”
