South Pasadena Celebrates 125 Years with Engaging City Website
City teams up with Vision Internet to launch intuitive government website
SOUTH PASADENA, Calif. -- The City of South Pasadena launched a redeveloped city website earlier this year. The new site, accessed at www.southpasadenaca.gov, is packed with useful services and advanced navigation tools that make surfing the website a breeze. It was developed in partnership with Vision Internet, a website development team with 17 years experience building engaging government websites.
“During this redesign it was important for us to create a site that was easy to read and navigate,” explains City Manager Sergio Gonzalez. “We had to get rid of the cluttered homepage that was overwhelming visitors with so much information. Simplifying and organizing the site, though a challenging task for our staff, was a welcomed opportunity to define the layout of each webpage.“
The new design was created to reflect the uniqueness of South Pasadena and provide the community with a more engaging design. The updated website sports a modern, progressive design with playful undertones. Meanwhile, the diversity of the community is displayed through images found on homepage slide show and throughout the interior pages. It was important that the new website involve the community, so the pictures were focused on unique features of the neighborhood as well as different landmarks.
“The website’s main navigation organization has been based on the end user, making it simple for residents, visitors, and business owners to find the information they need easily,” informs Gonzalez. “From links to farmers’ market and environmental information to design guidelines and business licensing, it’s all there and easy to access right from the homepage.”
