Vision to Host Innovation Forum at 3CMA Conference Next Week

eGov Experts to Share Best Practices and “What’s Next” in Online Government

SANTA MONICA, Calif. -- To support the public sector’s growing need for advanced website functionality and online solutions, Vision Internet, the original innovators of online government, will host an Innovation Technology Forum on September 5, 2013 at the 25th annual national conference of the City-County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA) in Scottsdale, Arizona.

“Thanks to advanced technology and social media, the opportunities for openness, accountability and participatory government are greater than ever,” said Ashley Fruechting, Vision Internet’s director of strategic initiatives, “Local government websites, in particular, are becoming primary tools for building two-way communication and transparency.”

Fruechting, an expert on the communications challenges facing local governments today, will open the forum and then introduce two featured speakers: eRepublic’s New Media Director and “GovGirl” Kristy Fifelski, and Facebook’s Policy Manager Katie Harbath.

Fifelski, a former city government web manager, is the upbeat host and creator of GovGirl.com, a unique online video feature and blog about government innovation. She will speak about “What’s Next in Government Social Media.”

Harbath is a former chief digital strategist for a national senatorial committee who now focuses on political outreach at Facebook. She will share “Best Practices of Facebook and Instagram.”

“The City-County Communications and Marketing Association is the leading organization for local governments that are innovating new and better ways of communicating with their citizens,” Fruechting said. “Vision Internet has worked with hundreds of its members to help them define their goals and bring their services to life online. This national conference is the perfect place to share current best practices and to learn what’s next for citizens and local governments. ”
